Dear John McCourt. I write to offer my personal thanks and appreciation for your assistance with facilitating International Policy Division’s Regional Strategic Communications Workshop in Canberra. As you were aware, the purpose of the workshop was to establish and strengthen regional relationships and provide visiting foreign forces with an understanding of the Australian Defence Force’s role of the provision of public information. Your presentation on MH370 (search for missing Malaysian airline) greatly contributed to the success of the workshop due to your expertise and experience.

John McCourt, in his role as commanding the Public Information Centre for Exercise Pitch Black 2008 had overall responsibility for media inquiries, media releases, media events, escorts and liaison with more than 10 international Air Forces. He also provided comprehensive support to senior command ensuring they were kept fully aware of all media coverage; media demands and hot issues.
